Coach Luke Loucks
A two-time NBA champion and former FSU standout, Luke Loucks was recently named Florida State’s men’s basketball head coach on March 9, 2025. Loucks brings a wealth of experience from every level of the game—collegiate, professional, and international.
Before returning home to Tallahassee, Loucks built an impressive coaching résumé in the NBA, serving on the staffs of the Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns, and most recently the Sacramento Kings. With Golden State, he was part of a historic run that included back-to-back NBA championships in 2017 and 2018, working alongside legends like Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and Draymond Green. He later helped lead the Phoenix Suns to a franchise-record 64 wins and, with the Sacramento Kings, guided both record-setting offenses and their best defensive performance in 20 years.
His coaching career also extends globally—he contributed to the Nigerian National Team’s historic win over Team USA ahead of the Tokyo Olympics.
Of course, his foundation was built right here at Florida State, where as a player he led the Seminoles to four straight NCAA Tournament appearances and helped secure the program’s first-ever ACC Tournament title in 2012.
A graduate of FSU with both a bachelor’s in business management and a master’s in sport management, he now returns to his alma mater to lead the Seminoles as head coach. His appointment signals a homecoming: leading his alma mater with the combination of NBA experience, player development insight, and institutional loyalty. It marks no greater time to honor him as we celebrate Homecoming as one of Florida State University's oldest traditions.
